Boon Gives Back
The Boon Group has a strong commitment to social responsibility and giving back to our community. In 2004, Paula Boon petitioned the Board at The Boon Group for a budget to enable her to set up the company’s support of several charities. Today, that list of charities and Boon’s financial commitment has grown considerably. We are proud to be able to have a positive impact on so many deserving lives. Below are just a few of the community events and charities that Boon is involved in.

The 2015 Celebration of Life Benefitting Seton Breast Care Center
On March 11, 2015, The Boon Group made a $10,000 donation to the Seton Breast Care Center and participated in the 2015 Celebration of Life. Offering comprehensive care for breast health services in one location, the new Seton Breast Care Center opened its doors at Seton Medical Center Austin in February 2014. The center combines the latest medical technology with personal attention and support throughout a patient’s cancer journey.
Among the imaging services offered is digital 3D mammography (tomosynthesis). This new technology provides a higher quality image, with greater detail than traditional digital mammography. The center also offers breast sonography, bone density scan, breast 3T MRI and stereotactic breast biopsies.
For patients diagnosed with breast cancer, nurse navigation services offer support throughout the patient’s treatment. Special features of the Seton Breast Care Center include relaxing spa-like lounges and waiting rooms, private dressing rooms complete with warm and comfy robes, a specialty boutique with unique and practical gifts for patients, survivors and their loved ones, nutrition classes and one-on-one counseling, postoperative exercise classes, yoga classes and lymphedema therapy. Austin Children’s Services
Charities supporting children have always been near to our hearts at The Boon Group. We made our first gift to Austin Children's Services in 2004, and Boon is also a proud sponsor of the Austin Children’s Services Gala and Fore the Children Golf Invitational. As a corporate partner, we are dedicated to protecting and healing children, young adults and families in Central Texas by supporting Austin Children's Services through philanthropic gifts annually.
Austin Children's Services believes that every child and young adult in our community deserves to feel safe and to receive nurturing care in order to grow into happy, responsible and fulfilled adults. Their goal is to end child abuse and neglect; to create a community and a world that has no need of a shelter for abused or neglected children. Walk Now for Autism Speaks
On October 11, 2014, Boon Group employees joined fellow Boon employee Kathy Sullivan’s family’s team at Walk Now for Autism Speaks. This charity supports research on autism spectrum disorder and supports families dealing with this issue. In total, the team raised more than $3,500 in support of autism awareness.
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and autism are both general terms for a group of complex disorders of brain development. These disorders are characterized, in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors. Autism statistics from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identify around 1 in 68 American children as on the autism spectrum–a ten-fold increase in prevalence in 40 years. Careful research shows that this increase is only partly explained by improved diagnosis and awareness. Studies also show that autism is four to five times more common among boys than girls. An estimated 1 out of 42 boys and 1 in 189 girls are diagnosed with autism in the United States.
