On November 6, the Department of Labor issued FAQ Part 22, which directly addresses some recent efforts by employers to reimburse employees for participation in the exchange through Code Section 105, or through some type of other arrangement. Read more.
Among the legislation slated to be introduced before Congress is a bill that would require federal agencies to give preference to federal government contractors who have demonstrated good labor practices. Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.), a senior member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, announced that the bill would give points to companies that pay their employees a living wage with benefits without passing on additional costs to the federal government, as well as for permitting workers to unionize.
